Spherical lenses are perfectly spherical lenses that are most commonly used for coupling light into and out of optical fibers. Hemispherical lenses are hemispherical. Spherical lenses can be made from quartz and have excellent UV and IR transmittance from 185nm to 2000+nm, while sapphire lenses have a higher refractive index and allow for very short retraction lengths, which better facilitates fiber coupling. Customized spherical lenses are available in a variety of alternative materials such as optical grade glass or even ceramics or infrared crystals. Our hemispherical lenses provide uniform light dispersion and are commonly used in LED displays and LED traffic lights.
