A compound eye lens array is a two-dimensional array composed of multiple independent optical elements, which can also be made into a whole. It can transform the non-uniform irradiance distribution on the illumination plane into uniform distribution. In digital projection systems, compound eye lenses are often used to connect semi collimated incoming light emitted from bulbs and their parabolic reflector cups. Usually, the optical components in the array only have optical power on one surface, and the other surface is usually flat.
